Vivantio benefits in upsurge of demand in service desk software-as-a-service

Vivantio reports 70% of its current customer base takes Vivantio Service Desk as software-as-a-service (SaaS) and predicts 80% for the end of 2008

Vivantio, the leading service desk software provider, has released figures showing that 70% of its current customer base purchased its Vivantio Service Desk software on a SaaS basis compared to on-site installation and predicts that SaaS uptake from its customers will increase to 80% by the end of 2008.

Vivantio provides a fully managed, hosted service allowing customers to access the software over the Internet. Data is securely held at external data centres with high levels of security and 99.99% availability. Customers are attracted to simple monthly subscription fees rather than high upfront software costs, the speed of deployment and minimal internal support requirements with no software to install, no backups or internal servers to maintain.

The trend towards SaaS across the software market continues to grow with companies such as Salesforce.com which provides customer relationship management software supporting one million paying users. Analyst Gartner reports the global market for web-based delivery of applications reached $5.1 billion in 2007 and will grow to $11.5 billion by 2011–by which time it will account for over one-quarter of software sold to companies.

Since 2003, Vivantio has given its Vivantio Service Desk customers the choice of whether to have the software installed on-site or on a SaaS basis. Vivantio SaaS customers cover the complete spectrum of businesses and organisations, ranging from single users to large organisations such as the NHS and DHL.
