Over 100 Free IT Applications and Plug-ins from Third Parties Now Available in Spiceworks

Microsoft, Intel, CDW, and Dell Plug-ins Help Simplify IT Management; Plug-in Contest Winners Announced at SpiceWorld 2009

Today at the SpiceWorld 2009 conference, Spiceworks(TM), Inc.unveiled dozens of new free IT management applications and plug-ins that are now available to the more than 775,000 users of the Spiceworks IT Desktop software. Several of the new additions include Spiceworks Application Plug-in Contest winners, which were chosen by the Spiceworks user community of IT professionals.

This year’s winners featured plug-ins designed to improve security, automate helpdesk tasks, inventory network devices, and deliver other valuable shortcuts for IT professionals. In addition, popular plug-ins from Microsoft, Intel, CDW, Dell, Citrix and Webex were shown at the second annual Spiceworks user conference. Some of the winners of this year’s Spiceworks Application Plug-in Contest as rated by the Spiceworks user community include:

* Robert Nertzel for “Helpdesk, Inventory, Reports, and My Tools User Role” – a plug-in that adds new security roles to Spiceworks;
* Sean Wilson for “Ticket Auto-Assign” – a plug-in that automatically assigns helpdesk tickets based on custom attributes;
* Justin Dorfman for “Keyboard Shortcuts” – which gives users IT management navigation shortcuts via the keyboard; and

Some of the top-rated plug-ins developed to better manage technology products and services from leading vendors include:

* CDW Search Plug-in – provides an integrated search field through which users can find and order products from CDW directly through the Spiceworks IT Desktop;
* Dell Search Plug-in – allows users to search for Dell products and services from within the Spiceworks IT Desktop;
* Intel vPro Manager – allows users to detect Intel vPro-enabled computers; and
* Microsoft License Manager Plug-in – allows users to see which licenses on the network need renewal or if they are paying for too many.

In its second year, the SpiceWorld 2009 event features topics and areas of interest voted on by the Spiceworks community. Sessions include in-person talks with Spiceworks company founders and product developers.
